About Tor Charlesworth
Tor is a drummer and drum teacher with over 20 years of experience. Tor started playing when she was 13 and had lessons from numerous teachers for a few years until she progressed to being self taught and using online resources to mould her craft.
When Tor was 18 years old she was in several gigging bands and played all over South East Kent and London gaining valuable experience in playing different songs & styles, travelling, inprovisation and musicianship. It was around this time Tor started taking on private drum lesson students.
For the past 5 years, Tor been the drummer of 'Salvation Jayne' who have been winning over audiences globally with their unique brand of intense, dark and dynamic post-punk. The band have enjoyed numerous sold-out headline shows, major support slots, and the likes of Marshall Amplification, Natal Drums, and Spotify showing their faith in what SJ are creating.
For 10 years Tor has enjoyed being a self employed drum teacher, based in Dover, Kent. Tor continues to teach privately at home, as well as in secondary schools in the local area and offers remote lessons for those who cannot attend any face to face lessons.
In 2022 Tor was invited to perform at the Freddie Gee academy, run exclusively by Natal Drums', George Frederick, playing alongside the likes of Steve White, Eddy Thrower, Spike T Smith and Pat Garvey to name a few.
Tor has gained plenty of live experience in this time playing with Salvation Jayne, filling last minute deps as well as sessions for UK R&B artist Courtney Bennett and upcoming UK artist Frozemode. Tor is adept at playing with a click and backing tracks.
